There are three things I’m absolutely certain of. The first two I forget but the third is what really matters.

But anyways, when I was young I thought when I grew up I would be a veterinarian. In grade three it was pointed out to me that my grades sucked and unless they invented a new kind of veterinarian for lousy students I should “wake up.”  I hated homework but I loved reading MAD Magazine. I was really good at that! I also loved to draw. So I proudly announced to my parents that my intentions were to be a cartoonist when I grew up to which they promptly responded by saying I was an idiot.

I didn’t get the point they were trying to make. What did one thing have to do with the other? In retrospect I really can’t take much credit for being a cartoonist - or an artist for that matter. It was just something I always did. It seems I was just meant to draw.

Of this I am absolutely certain.
